Description

Measuring and Valuing Ecosystem Contribution to Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Services.

The aim of this research is to devise a transparent and repeatable method for, and provide estimates of, the contribution of ecosystems to the tourism and outdoor recreation sectors of the UK economy, as part of the UK Natural Capital Accounts.

A typology of relevant subsectors will need to be established first. Initial accounting estimates for the physical and monetary accounts will then be developed using a range of approaches.

This work will contribute to the development of a comprehensive set of natural capital accounts for the UK, as set out in the 2020 Natural Capital Accounting Roadmap.
