Description
The Council wishes to invite tenders for the supply of services to develop a District Wide Design Code for the district of Bassetlaw. The commission's study area encompasses the Bassetlaw District Council boundary (available here).
Bassetlaw District Council is the northernmost of Nottinghamshire's Councils and is home to over 118,000 people. It shares borders with Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and is adjacent to seven local authority areas: Bolsover, Doncaster, Mansfield, Newark & Sherwood, North Lincolnshire, Rotherham, and Central Lincolnshire, which includes West Lindsey.
The purpose of the DWDC will be to establish a locally distinctive framework that identifies locally important design principles for the district, with a focus upon appropriate requirements and guidance to facilitate the delivery of development as identified by the Local Plan spatial strategy including Local Plan allocations. The DWDC will also need to complement and support established and emerging Neighbourhood Plans' Neighbourhood level Design Codes (NLDCs), providing the overarching design code framework for the district.
