Description

The Authority is seeking a contractor to design and build a reclaimed mill stone flag surfaced path, refurbish existing sections of sub-strata path and making a suitable surface from an exposed section of limestone along a 2200m section of footpath on Nine Standards Rigg Fell - a remote location of the North Pennines National Landscape. Where required, along the length of the surfacing work landscaping, habitat restoration and the removal of desire lines is to be undertaken. Faraday gill, a watercourse, is to be bridged and a large, flagged ford is to be constructed.
The route forms part of the Coast-to-Coast long-distance path which is being upgraded to a National Trail and the work will need to be carried out to the National Trails Quality Standards.
