Description
Digital Catapult is looking for a AI Ethics Researcher (on a 6 month contract, 1-2 days per week)) to help with research and publication of two papers on AI Ethics. The role would suit an individual who is proactive, creative, flexible, smart, collaborative, a fast learner and comfortable working across all stages of projects from planning to delivery.
The proposed research is in two parts:
(1) An exposition and evaluation of the Machine Intelligence Garage's ethics framework. This work will describe the methodology used to design the framework and how it is used with startups. It will also situate the framework within the wider ethics principles landscape.
(2) Research to elicit additional needs of companies, including startups, for practical support in applied AI ethics. This will be via primary research through interviews with practitioners in industry.
What We're Looking For:
- PhD/Post-doctoral level researcher with demonstrable experience in AI Ethics
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research
- Experience in communicating complex technology topics to both specialist and general audiences
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, desire and ability to share ideas
What You'll Do:
- Academic level research in AI Ethics, to support the Machine Intelligence Garage Ethics service
- Two academic papers and derivative communications, such as blogs
- Collaborate with the Digital Catapult AI team as well as startups on the Machine Intelligence Garage program, and our wider network
- The funder(s) will be acknowledged (except during blind review) in the academic papers
