Description

Assaying for radon emanation from materials used in low background particle physics experiments requires radon detectors of very high sensitivity. Standard radon detectors operate in the range of 1 Bq/m3 or above. In the next 5 years, new experiments will be built that require sensitivity to radon emanation around 1000x more sensitive (1 mBq/m3 or below) but the research into potential materials must begin immediately.
