Description

Teignbridge District Council owns and operates its own Bulking Station to process the household dry recyclables it collects through its in-house kerbside sort collection service using single pass vehicles. Collections are made from approximately 60,000 properties at present. This number is set to rise to 70,000 over the next two decades. In 2015 a new recycling service was introduced and residents can currently present paper, mixed glass, tins, cans, aerosols, mixed plastics (including bottles, pots, tubs and trays), cardboard, textiles, batteries, mobile phones, printer cartridges and food waste for recycling from home on a weekly cycle. The current equipment used for baling Cardboard does not have sufficient capacity to process the amount of material being collected at approximately 3000 tonnes per year. The Council are therefore looking to procure equipment for baling the Cardboard collected. It shall be the responsibility of each Bidder to develop a 'Solution' that enables the cardboard to be processed from point of deposit from collection vehicles within the identified area into mill sized bales ready for transportation. All Solutions must include a separate, itemised and priced maintenance package to include preventative maintenance and breakdown service arrangements.
