Description

RAPID RESPONSE OPERATIVE
Rate of Pay: BAND D ?11.02 ph to worker
Hours: 37 hours per week (7.30am - 3.30pm (during darker months), changing to 9am - 5pm during the summer months)
Location: Council House, Oldbury (but boroughwide of Sandwell)

Contract type: Temporary for 3 months

Duties of the role are:
o Attend fly tipped areas within the Sandwell Borough, inspect the rubbish and load onto truck
o Search rubbish for evidence of culprit
o Potentially dirty and dangerous work (searching rubbish may find dead animals, rotting meat, nappies, needles, etc)
o Physically demanding, moving large or heavy objects (i.e.: mattresses)
o Complete online forms regarding the fly tipped rubbish
o Take photos on the Tablet (provided) and send to the Environmental Officers to investigate
o Interact with members of the public who may attend the site
o Leaflet drop offs to make borough cleaner
Candidates need to have good customer service skills and need to be able to physically do the job. They need to also have good ICT skills.
Will be required to take a Driving Assessment and pass this prior to commencement of role to drive the council's 3.5 tonne vehicles
You will be paired with an existing member of staff initially. You will be provided with PPE, special equipment and uniform. Training will be provided.
