Description
Shropshire Council (the "Council") is at an exciting stage in its project to construct the Shrewsbury North West Relief Road ("NWRR Project"). This will provide a new, single carriageway road linking the northern and western parts of Shrewsbury. It will include a new bridge over the River Severn and its flood plain, a new bridge over the Shrewsbury-Chester railway line and will connect the A5 at Welshpool Road roundabout in the west to the Ellesmere Road roundabout in the north. The Council is preparing to commence the formal competitive procurement process to award the contract for the NWRR Project. In the interest of running a fair, efficient and effective procurement process and to help inform the Council's approach to the eventual procurement, the Council is seeking to engage with potential lead contractors experienced in leading and delivering similar major capital highways projects of similar size and nature (at least £50 million in value) in advance of commencing the formal procurement process. Further details are provided in section II.2.4 below.
