Description

REFURBISHMENT PROJECT - TECHNOLOGY BUILDING - T1/T2
PRIOR INFORMATION NOTICE (PIN) - Please note this is not a call for competition.
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced companies who can demonstrate a proven track record of delivering complex projects similar to the requirement outlined below. It is anticipated that procurement documents will be published in April 2020.
Brief Project Overview
During 2020 the University of Huddersfield intends to procure a Construction Partner to manage the refurbishment of its 'Technology Building' with an anticipated contract value of circa ?5 million. The procurement will adopt a traditional approach via a restricted procedure. A detailed design prepared by a University appointed design team will be issued to the shortlisted contractors for pricing. The tender assessment will be based upon a combination of cost and quality weighting.
The project will involve the refurbishment of an existing building for the School of Engineering in order to provide the university with flagship research space required to grow its research capability. This project would take place in close proximity to university operations which share the same building, therefore consideration would need to be given to the occupants and surrounding areas. The current area proposed GIFA is circa 2750m2. The contractor will be responsible for the internal demolition works to clear the building and the general refurbishment, including installation of new fa?ade.
The space itself will support a variety of research users with specific requirements including some close environmental controls and specialist environments. Due to this technical nature of the project the contractor should have a strong M&E skillset to be able to fully deliver to these parameters.
Summary of Programme
Some key estimated programme dates to note are (these are subject to variation in order to meet the University's timelines):
- A bidders day will be held in February 2020
