Description

Warwickshire County Council is seeking to commission a single provider to develop and implement a comprehensive Singing for Lung Health programme for adults with chronic respiratory conditions. This will consist of courses of group-based sessions led by an experienced singing specialist.

In Warwickshire, the under 75 mortality rate from respiratory disease was 29 per 100,000 in 2016-18. However, there is significant variation across the county, where Nuneaton and Bedworth have significantly higher premature mortality rates than the national average (44 per 100,000).

Therefore, holistic support is needed for those living with these conditions and improvements in lung health are required. This programme forms part of a wider set of Creative Health programmes to promote creative and cultural activities within Warwickshire to improve health and wellbeing.

The objective is to improve the quality of life for people living with long term respiratory conditions. Delivering health, psychological and social benefits to those with long-term respiratory conditions. Singing for health can be offered both as an early intervention and as tertiary prevention approach (reducing deterioration and improving quality of life) for people living with COPD utilising a non-medical approach to support medical and social needs.
