Description

The General Medical Council (GMC) are responsible for setting the standards of good medical practice that all doctors in the UK should follow. Our standards define what makes a good doctor by setting out the professional values, knowledge, skills and behaviours required of all doctors working in the UK.
In June 2016 we introduced new guidance for doctors offering cosmetic interventions. The guidance sets out the standards expected of all UK doctors who carry out cosmetic interventions, both surgical and non-surgical.
The aim of this project is to carry out a feasibility study and develop the design for a blended programme of activities delivered in partnership between the GMC and external partners, to deliver training, advice and practical support to doctors implementing GMC cosmetic practice guidance in the independent sector.
The project will help to increase our understanding of the barriers and enablers to incorporating new guidelines into professional practice and the effectiveness of this type of partnership, whole system approach in supporting doctors to adopt the standards in our good practice guidelines.
Please note that this tender is for the research and design of a pilot programme only. We expect that, following completion of this study, a feasible programme would be tendered for piloting and evaluation seperately, to be delivered in 2018/19.
