Description

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council are inviting expressions of interest for a Step Up Enhanced Assessment Nursing Dementia Beds Service in order to provide 5 beds in one nursing home which is registered with the Care Quality Commission and situated within the borough of Sandwell. The provider must also hold Dementia Nursing registration with the Care Quality Commission.

The beds will predominantly be step up provision, however, the successful Contractor will be required to provide step down provision should there be a need.

The Service will provide a 24-hour, 7 days a week a model of nursing care in a residential setting for adults with dementia who may be positive, symptomatic, or who require isolation due to close contact with others who have Covid-19 for e.g. living with someone who has Covid-19 or symptoms of Covid-19. The service will provide a setting for a period of time, which will include isolating the individual from the general resident population until they are confirmed clear of Covid-19 and can be safely reintegrated with the general community.

The service will provide admission within agreed target times, based on the urgency of the referral. Payment will be at an enhanced rate where timescales are met. Referrals will be predominantly from the Community for those whose primary need is safe, person-centred, isolation due to possible Covid-19, but may be required to facilitate a step down from an acute setting service within the same timescales.

The beds will be used flexibly and may include patients referred by Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group subject to the agreement of the Council.

The contract period will be from 24th February 2021 for 12 months (end date: 23 February 2022), with no option to extend.

The Council are following the open procedure for this procurement and the Tender document and related documents will be available to Tenderers upon an expression of interest on the Sandwell MBC In-tend Supplier Portal.
