Description

The following services are required to be provided by the contract:
• Creating cycle maintenance volunteer work placements (including recruitment/support/development and supervision) providing at least 8 individual hours of active volunteer involvement plus the provision of 7 prison-based work placements.
• Providing maintenance training (18 certificates) and 7 community engagement events to disadvantaged people including Dr Bike, event kit and promotion (including life coaching, employability work, and giving the public ability to fix their own bikes using tools, parts and advice provided) aimed at supporting our in-house project work from the Capability Fund for engagement with large employers to promote and encourage employees to use active travel. Trainees to be selected from disadvantaged groups including long term unemployed, prisoners, formerly homeless, those with mental health issues, refugees etc to help them move into work and encourage interest in bike maintenance and bike travel as part of regular journeys to work, college or training.
• Setting up and managing 2 new bike libraries (2 in schools, community or businesses including locations in deprived areas), including liaison with schools/employers, servicing throughout, and sourcing, promotion, collection, storage and refurbishing at least 60 donated bikes and distributing at least 60 through the bike libraries or communities outside of the libraries.
