Description

The Research and Enterprise Division (RED) works with academics, researchers, students and entrepreneur communities both in and also outside the University of Bristol. Within RED, the Research Development team provides expert support to academic members of staff who are seeking external funding for their research. The team also acts as a contact point for funding agencies and partners and has a detailed knowledge of a wide range of funding issues.

The Research Development Team currently has a contract with a supplier to provide a tool that maintains an online database of research funding opportunities, is a source of international research policy, and details Higher Education Institution relevant news.

The tool currently operates as a membership, which enables all University of Bristol members of staff / students to freely access an online site and have the ability to create tailor made funding searches specific to their research area and requirements, browse the news and policy articles and set up email alerts.

The tool is also used by RED to create a fortnightly funding alert (in Excel and Acrobat formats) which is targeted to specific Faculties and Schools. RED wishes to have the option to replace this manual process with automated targeting of funding opportunities to individuals and groups, with the option for manual moderation.

This tender opportunity is to procure an online, intuitive search tool that enables University of Bristol members of staff to identify and search for potential funding opportunities (either as an individual, or as part of a research group/School/Faculty), have access to relevant policy articles and keep up to date with relevant funder news items.  The University's expectation is for this to be a vendor hosted web service. It should be intuitive and simple to navigate around. The system needs to include funding opportunities from across the globe (UK, Europe, USA etc.), for a variety of schemes (responsive mode, strategic calls, capital, research equipment, fellowships, large grants, travel, prizes, access to facilities etc.), from an array of funders (government, industry, charity etc.), and relevant for UK based Principal Investigators or for individuals applying from outside the UK for grants which would enable them to move to a UK University.
