Located in the West Midlands, Sandwell is a metropolitan borough in the Black Country, which is made up of six towns - Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. The borough has excellent access to the national motorway network with five junctions feeding in to the M5 and M6 motorways serving the South West, South East and North West regions of the UK.
As Sandwell Council embarks on an exciting period of transformation, inward investment and expansion a superb interim opportunity within the Regeneration and Growth Directorate has become available. The Council seeks to employ an experienced regeneration professional who will drive forward projects and workload and lead on initial work on the Levelling Up Fund. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, organisation, development and delivery of the Spatial Planning and Growth Service Area, operating as a line manager to 3 business managers. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in the organisation's future, by working closely with the Director of Regeneration and Growth. Sandwell Council has a strong Regeneration and Growth function. In your role you will display effective leadership of the Spatial Planning and Growth Service by ensuring the delivery of key priorities aligned to the Corporate Plan. You will also monitor frameworks of key regeneration projects for Sandwell Council, examples of this includes economic, investment and physical strategies to support the local borough.
Candidates will have a strong background of managing teams and strategic projects showcasing their team management and delivery skillset within complex environments. They will also be able to take the lead in capturing and aligning regeneration opportunities across the Borough particularly linked to the Levelling Up Fund. The successful candidate will also be degree educated or equivalent within town planning, economic development or a related discipline.
