Description

The Council is seeking to commission a service that will provide a holistic offer of low level support for individuals living with mental health and wellbeing needs. Improving mental health and wellbeing, supporting healthy lifestyles and integrating health and social care along with the wider determinants of health are known to have immense impacts on keeping people well and thriving in our communities. The service will focus on early intervention and prevention and provide support and activities that will positively impact on people's mental health and wellbeing, reduce health inequalities and improve wider outcomes for communities at risk from poor mental health by building community capital and individual mental resilience. The range of support will include provision such as one to one support, structured group work, complimentary therapies, activities, peer support, befriending and volunteering. This will include the development of self-help groups and support to ensure they become self-sustaining. The service will also deliver cross tenure housing related support to individuals with low level mental ill health and learning difficulties which may negatively impact on their ability to live independently. It is intended that the provision will be preventative, time limited, and focussed on those who are not eligible for statutory services via a Care Act assessment. The service will also include a 12 month pilot programme to train up to 250 frontline workers and practitioners in the Dearne area of the borough in early assessment, signposting and brief interventions in relation to low level mental/emotional health needs.
