Description
West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges (WYCC) is seeking skilled training providers to train and support career progression and transitions for individuals aged over 50. This tender is part funded by the European Social Fund.
West Yorkshire Consortium Colleges (WYCC) values collaborative working and invite applications from organisations that are committed to working in partnership to deliver quality training, which meets the Leeds City Region skills agenda.
The main aims of this training are to:
Pilot the delivery of comprehensive early skills and training interventions for workers in higher risk sectors and industries (older workers in certain sectors such as manufacturing are at higher risk of redundancy) There are prolific problems of skill shortages in other sectors such as construction and engineering which employers are struggling to overcome. Projects which support skills acquisition for workers aged 50 and above in these sectors are required to be delivered through this commission.
Line managers with the right skills are crucial to successfully supporting older workers. The CIPD says around half of line managers in all firms are not trained in managing age diverse teams and are therefore not equipped to deal with some of the challenges that will inevitably arise in some cases. Projects would be welcome which focus on increasing the skills of those who manage older workers to better support and facilitate skills development opportunities and career redirection for their older workforce to enable people to remain in good quality work for longer.
Up skilling, reskilling and career change pilot projects would be welcome. For example, through the delivery of highly challenging work activities (for example, project-based activities) to support career progression or redirection within the company or its supply chain
