Description
The site
Thursley National Nature Reserve is a registered common with heathland, woods and bogs. The site is particularly sensitive because it has several nature conservation designations including Site of special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Specially Protected area (SPA) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The site is also within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Parts of the reserve are also protected under the Ramsar convention for fresh water habitats
Works specification;
• The job entails the creation of new surfaces and sub-surfaces of existing bridleways which have become eroded and flooded over a number of years.
• There are main work areas and a series of minor repairs as shown on map attached to this document
• The site has open public access at all times and has a large network of bridleways and footpaths
• The works will be on statutory public rights of way. Legal users of this route must be allowed to have continued safe access during the works; this includes pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. If this is not possible, a closure must be obtained at the cost of the contractor.
• All works to be completed to the satisfaction of the project officer by end of October 2017
The contractor will be expected to price each individual area to the best they can, but to consider these as a part of the larger contract and price accordingly.
