CLOSING TIME FOR BIDS IS 11.00 HOURS ON 16/12/2016
The British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge, is part of the Natural Environment Research Council. The primary use for the site is polar scientific research, and therefore the site contains many laboratories, cold rooms, workshops, as well as office accommodation
This site is occupied 24 hours a day. All buildings will be occupied throughout the works. The Contractor must take all reasonable care not to interfere with all other activities on the site.
Project
Replacement of the current site fire alarm system with an up to date Vigilon addressable system on a point for point detector and fire panel basis. To bring in line with current works upgrading the Central services fire alarm. Full information regarding this requirement is contained within the attachments.
The Tenderers are recommended to visit the site - by appointment only - before submitting their Tender to acquaint themselves with local conditions, means of access, the full extent and character of the Works and any other matters which might affect the execution of the Works. No claim will be allowed on the grounds of lack of understanding of the conditions under which the work will be executed, the character of the work and all that is involved in carrying out this Contract.
Description of the Works
The works comprise of replacing the existing site wide fire alarm for a New Gent by Honeywell Vigilon system, on a like for like basis utilising the existing wiring and loop layout. Integrating with the new system installed in central services.
• Replacement of Slave Primary Panel in SB1 and Repeater Panel in SB2.
• Replacement off all detectors, beacons and Manual Call points.
• Replacement of all Sounders, with 3 tone capability.
• Commissioning and testing.
• Link the fire system with nimbus Gateway and 'Redcare'
Where practicable, existing infrastructure shall be utilised to keep invasive works to a minimum. It is likely a few small areas will require alteration to wiring.
In addition to the like for like replacement additional work is required and should be included regarding the provision of automatic fire detection to comply with L1. Please see the attachments for the full information regarding the requirement.

Once you have registered on the eSourcing Suite, a registered user can express an interest for a specific procurement. This is done by emailing
expressionofinterest@crowncommercial.gov.uk
Your email must clearly state: the name and reference for the procurement you wish to register for; the name of the registered Bidder; and the name and contact details for the registered individual sending the email.
Crown Commercial Service will process the email and then enable the Bidder to access the procurement online via the e-Sourcing Suite. The registered user will receive a notification email to alert them once this has been done.
The Sourcing documents can then be accessed on the eSourcing Suite at: https://gpsesourcing.cabinetoffice.gov.uk using the instructions detailed in the Specification documents within Contracts Finder.
