Description
We are currently looking for independent experts to work on a consultancy basis for approximately 6 days FTE, with a potential for future project expansion.
The expert will support the delivery of an ongoing project to produce a strategic review within the Beef and Lamb sectors, comparing both regulatory and voluntary farmgate production standards in England to key producing nations across the globe.
The successful experts will proactively engage in the projects delivery, helping to shape analysis, alongside providing scrutiny of the reports outcomes and results, to ensure credible, authentic, and independent conclusions are drawn from the workstream.
We are looking for proactive, highly qualified individuals with significant experience within the agriculture/food/environment arena, preferably with direct exposure to the requirements and complexities surrounding international comparisons in production standards. Relevant experience in one or more of our key production areas such as food safety, animal health and welfare, livestock traceability or environmental standards would be advantageous. This might be obtained from academic, commercial or policy experience.
For the expert, a day rate will be provided. A starting rate of £750/day will be applied (dependent on experience).
Responsibilities
• Capacity to scrutinise detailed reports, providing constructive feedback to enhance the quality of AHDB outputs, to short deadlines.
• Deliver technical expertise to support shaping and delivering project outcomes.
• Ability to work cohesively with AHDB colleagues.
• Build and sustain collaborative relationships with operational customers to understand issues and provide effective recommendations for decision making.
Essential Criteria
• Proactive individual who strives for continuous improvement and has a successful track record of delivering results.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills to enable discussion of key outcomes with staff at all levels within AHDB.
• Collaborative individual with good listening and reflective skills.
• Commercial aptitude, strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
• Significant expertise within one of the topic areas covered in review, namely food safety, animal health and welfare, environmental standards, livestock traceability.
