Description

The NCC is an independent, open-access national centre that delivers world-class innovation in the design and manufacture of composites and facilitates their widespread industrial exploitation.

The National Composites Centre (NCC) intends to procure automated tape winding capability for fully bonded pipes manufacturing. Such equipment must be able to process unidirectional thermoplastic tapes via in-situ consolidation process to manufacture pipe prototypes with inner diameters in the order of 5cm to 20cm and lengths up to 2 meters. The acquired capability will extend the current state of the art, which is of value and relevance to both industrial stakeholders and overall, UK industrial output.

The capability shall be specified, procured and commissioned to ensure suitability for industrial research and development programs as well as supporting maturation of emerging manufacturing technologies from academia toward industrial application.

This project is funded by Innovate UK. The target commissioning date for the equipment is beginning Q3 2023, at NCC site. The operation and specified functionality of the equipment will be demonstrated based on the target application component(s) during FAT and SAT.

The NCC will not meet any costs incurred by any party in responding to this notice or by participating in the tender. The NCC reserves the right to award all, none, or part of the business.

Tenderers must register and submit tenders on the University of Bristol's Tender Opportunity Portal (https://tenders.bris.ac.uk/). Please email leigh.jones@nccuk.com to confirm registration, in order to get access to the tender documentation.

Please note that the budget allocated for the base equipment is in the region of £280,000 (the stated Contract Value).
