Description

The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] require equipment for the calibration of radiation hazard probes and field strength sensors and will replace our existing Amplifier Research 500A100 amplifier. The existing 500 watt amplifiers are over 25 years old and it's output has dropped.

The new amplifier will have a wider frequency range, so it will save us moving another amplifier from different calibration area to do measurements from 100 to 250 MHz.

Reflective low pass filters will be used on the output of the amplifiers to reduce harmonics to acceptable levels. The proposed amplifier must be able to operate continuously at the rated output power when any harmonics generated are reflected back into the amplifier.
