Description

The scheme comprises of the following main elements: -
• A new at-grade roundabout located on the existing M181 approximately 140m north of the B1450
(Burringham Road) overbridge.

• The motorway to the south of the new roundabout is to be renamed as 'M180', while the existing
motorway to the north will be de-trunked and renamed to become 'A1077', all-purpose dual
carriageway (the de-trunking works are to be undertaken by others).

• Two new link roads are proposed to the east and west of this proposed roundabout.

• The new link roads connect into two new roundabouts, one east and one west of the M181. These roundabouts provide access to the planned development sites.

• The new link roads then tie-back into the existing B1450.

• Online improvements to the existing Burringahm Road to the east of the scheme through to the roundabout adjacent to the Asda Supermarket.

• Improvement works to this roundabout to create additional capacity

• The existing section of the B1450 road and overbridge between the new link road connections would be retained for non-motorised users (NMUs) and will be connected into new NMU routes that enable access to the planned development sites.

Works are to be provided under a design and construction contract. The design is substantially complete, however there are several design activities that are to be undertaken and these are described in Volume 3 Part 1 Works Information WI300. The current design agreement with Alan Wood and partners is to be novated into the design and construction contract. A copy of the design agreement and form of novation will be issued to all registered tenderers upon commencement of the tender period.
