Description
Aim
To develop and coordinate the Enfield Food Security Alliance in order to reduce food poverty in Enfield
Objectives
• Establish and coordinate a network of stakeholders and partners working on food poverty issues across the borough in order to increase the number of community-led solutions to food insecurity.
• Increase the capacity of local agencies to respond to an increasing demand for food aid
• Support the development and implementation of an inclusive, evidence-based, cross-sectoral Food Security Action Plan for the Borough, identifying good practice that could support and inform activity
Service description
• Establish and coordinate a network of stakeholders and partners working on food poverty issues across the borough in order to increase the number of community-led solutions to food insecurity.
o Develop and agree Terms of Reference and a vision for the Alliance
o Involve people who have lived experience of food poverty
o Communicate regularly with the Alliance
o Identify funding opportunities and resources to support the strategic development of the Alliance in a sustainable way
• Increase the capacity of local agencies to respond to an increasing demand for food aid
o Facilitate collaboration between Alliance members and ensure information, opportunities, resources and expertise are shared
o Have an overview of existing actions taking place to alleviate food poverty, such as free or low-cost community food programmes, emergency food provision and holiday hunger programmes. Liaise with Enfield Voluntary Action / Enfield Public Health to ensure this is added to Simply Connect Enfield online directory.
o Understand what training opportunities are required by members, for example, food hygiene or managing volunteers
o Work with members to effectively signpost service users to other services to help address the underlying causes of food poverty such as debt advice
• Support the development and implementation of an inclusive, evidence-based, cross-sectoral Food Security Action Plan for the Borough, identifying good practice that could support and inform activity
o Influence and support stakeholders to take strategic action on food poverty.
o Work with pilot projects to develop, expand and support community-based approaches to tackling food poverty.
Data Collection and reporting
• Collect data on number of service users supported by Alliance members on a monthly basis
• Report data during monthly meeting with Public Health
