Description
East Sussex County Council are seeking a single provider for the support for survivors of suicide and people bereaved or affected by suicide. The contract will be for an initial period of 2.5 years, from 01 October 2021 to 31 March 2024, with the option to extend the contract for a periods or periods up to a cumulative maximum of 24 months. The budget is ?100,000 per annum, with potential additional funding of up to ?100,000 over the duration of the contract (including the extension period). The provision aims to reduce risk of suicide for people in East Sussex and improve outcomes of those at risk of or affected by suicide including distress arising from and leading to, suicidal intentions and actions, and the suffering following bereavement by suicide. The key objectives relating to each of the two parts of the service are:
(1) To reduce distress and the risk of suicide by supporting individuals (aged 16+ years) who are at risk by offering services explicitly focused on suicidal and self-harming behaviour. Also, to provide information and support for families, friends and colleagues who are concerned about someone who may be at risk of suicide.
(2) To reduce distress and risk of suicide for those recently bereaved by suicide (aged 16+ years) with timely practical and emotional support, including an element of peer support where practicable and appropriate. Also, to improve pathways for those bereaved by suicide through partnership working.
