Description

The Authority is the UK Government Department responsible for the environment, food and farming and rural affairs. The Authority's priorities are to secure a healthy natural environment; a sustainable, low-carbon economy; a thriving farming sector and a sustainable, healthy and secure food supply.

The work involves extending a drinking water supply for grazing animals at Castor Hanglands National Nature Reserve (TF 115 005), five miles from Peterborough.

This requires the installation of approximately 1km of service pipe, laid through fields and woodland and crossing Helpston Road which will require a section 50 licence from the local council. The contractor will also provide and install all the necessary fittings including the provision of 3 galvanised cattle troughs.

Part of the site area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is of high nature conservation importance. Extreme care will be required to avoid undue disturbance to the ground and surrounding vegetation. Contractors must restrict vehicular movement to the access routes indicated on the attached plans. On completion of the work the contractor must clear from the site all unused material.
