Description

Contract for the provision of maintenance and improvement works to the Public Rights of Way (PROW) network in the county of Leicestershire.

Required services include, but are not limited to, vegetation clearance, hedge cutting, tree maintenance, repairs, maintenance and installation of footpaths, bridleways, byways, bridges, ditch crossings, fences, gates, stiles, finger posts, way markers etc.

Reactive and programmed maintenance and repair services will be required.

Much of the vegetation clearance will need to be carried out by strimmer and hand tools since many sites can't be accessed with sit on plant, though some sites may facilitate ride on machinery. Larger hedge trimmers and chainsaws will be required to clear heavier vegetation. Tree maintenance will normally require the use of a chainsaw and may require the movement of larger timbers

The appointed supplier will be required to liaise and communicate with private land owners in order to gain access to sites and carry out essential services.

All services required are aimed at keeping the 1,900 mile Leicestershire PROW network open, accessible and safe for members of the public to use.
