Description
NOTE: This notice was updated on 21 December 2015 for the following reason: Other additional information: The Contract Notice is hereby withdrawn. The Contracting Authority considers that this requirement is within the scope of the Service Provision Contract between the Contracting Authority and Babcock DSG Ltd.
The Armoured Vehicles Programmes Team, part of the UK Ministry of Defence, requires a further 7 off Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicles (CRARRV) to be fitted with appliqué armour in the configuration most recently deployed in Afghanistan (Op HERRICK), minus the Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA). This system is known as CRARRV Fitted For But Not With (FFBNW) ERA.
The requirement is for both the manufacture and fitting of this FFBNW system to 7 off CRARRV platforms. An initial manufacture and fit 'pilot ' of 1 off FFBNW System must be undertaken by the Contractor. This 'pilot' will be subject to a Dstl approval process, with approval to manufacture and fit the remaining 6 off FFBNW systems only being given upon satisfactory acceptance of the 'Pilot' FFBNW System. The remaining 6 off FFBNW Systems shall be Contractual Options, only to be invoked upon acceptance of the 'Pilot' FFBNW System.
The CrARRV Applique Armour Manufacturer's Data Pack, relevant Army Equipment Support Publications (AESPs) and Maintenance And Procedural Memorandums (MAPMs), providing the necessary manufacturing and fitting instructions shall be provided by the Authority in support of the 'Invitation to Tender' and the Contract phases.
The Contractor shall be required to transport all of the CrARRV platforms from their current, Central UK location to their premises for the performance of this Contract and then return the CrARRV platforms in the FFBNW configuration to their original location within the defined contractual period.
