Description

Birmingham City Council (the Council) has made a clear commitment to becoming an excellent commissioning-based authority. The Council on behalf of Birmingham Community Safety Partnerships (BCSP) Violence Reduction Board (VRB) wishes to invest in young people aged 10-14 as a 'group' of friends, peers, siblings or known associates who may be at risk from the many challenges which can lead to serious violence.

The BCSP ('the partnership') seeks to commission an organisation with local knowledge and experience to manage and deliver the Circle of Friends programme, a programme of support and intervention for groups of young people The successful provider will ensure continuous training and professional development of their staff, that is relevant to understanding and improving the lives and experiences of the young people they work with e.g. understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), trauma informed approaches, improving confidence, improving social skills etc.

Circle of Friends aims to provide young people with the tools to manage peer pressure and conflict resolution. It aims to reduce the negative cycle of poly-victimisation that can lead to future perpetration of violence. Circle of Friends will be an evolutionary model; where the framework of group work, 1 to 1 and activities are decided and driven by the outcomes that the young people are aiming to achieve collectively and individually. It aims to be dynamic and respond to their needs.

This contract will be for a period of 12 months commencing November 2024 until November 2025.
