Description

Mid Sussex District Council (the Council) currently owns in the region of 450-600 areas of green space comprising of a mixture of open green spaces, more formal parks and recreation grounds, Leisure Centre and hall surrounds and Local Nature Reserves and other conservation and countryside sites (including SANGs). We believe in total this covers almost 478 hectares of green space.

Since January 2014, the Council contracts the maintenance of the soft landscaping in most (but not all) these green spaces to idVerde. The contract currently in place with idVerde is frequency (input) based and it has been determined that the specification does not accurately reflect the work that needs to be undertaken in the Council's green spaces on a regular and ad-hoc basis. It is an ambition of the Council to review the specification to move away from a strict frequency base to focus more on performance.

This contract is scheduled to end in June 2022 and, in readiness for successful procurement, the Council needs to undertake a rapid review of all our Council-owned green spaces and appoint a consultant to assist with the development of a suitable performance-based specification.

The Council wishes to procure the support of a suitably qualified and experienced Landscape Consultant to:

o Undertake a rapid survey of all our Council-owned green spaces (Phase 1) and;
o Provide consultancy support with the development of a suitable performance-based specification for grounds maintenance, countryside management, tree inspections and maintenance, play area inspections and maintenance (Phase 2).
o Potentially provide consultancy support (subject to Council approval) for assisting the Council with the development of tender documentation, supporting the evaluation of bids and seeing the contract through to award (Phase 3).
