Description
NHS South of England Procurement Services (SoEPS), acting on behalf of Health Education England (HEE - the Commissioner) are commencing a tender for the provision of Academic Supervisor Function to Speciality Registrars on the Public Health Training Programme, Health Education England (working across the East Midlands).
Health Education England (working across the East Midlands) hereafter referred to as 'The Authority' is seeking tenders from specialists in the provision of academic postgraduate supervision for the delivery of an academic supervisor function through the provision of academic learning sets and individual support to Specialty Registrars (StRs) on the Public Health Training Programme in the East Midlands for the period 1st June 2018 to 6th August 2019, with the option of extending the contract for a further 12 months (to August 2020).
The Authority is responsible for delivering medical and dental postgraduate training programmes across the East Midlands. The General Medical Council (GMC) is responsible for the regulation of education and training throughout a doctors' career, from medical school through the Foundation Programme and specialty training, including general practice training programmes, to continuing professional development. The GMC sets the standards for the delivery of these training programmes and quality assures the delivery of training against them. Current versions of the GMC's standards can be found on the GMC's website: www.gmc-uk.org. One of the mandatory responsibilities of The Authority is to provide expert support and guidance to doctors throughout their postgraduate training years and to support the General Medical Council (GMC) in its role in regulating the medical profession.
The Specialist Postgraduate School in Public Health (the School) leads the specialist postgraduate training programme in Public Health. The overall management of the School is vested in a School Board. The Board will consist of representatives of the three organisations involved in providing and organising training; the Deanery, the Faculty of Public Health (the Faculty) and Training Locations. Representatives of trainees also sit on the Board. Day to day management of the School is undertaken by a team led by a Head of School, a Training Programme Director, and Quality Lead and a School Business Manager.
Successful applicants will be paid £20,000 per Academic Learning Set (excluding VAT). This Rate includes all associated expenses such as travel, accommodation, room hire, materials, secretarial admin typing, telephone calls, and postage, etc.
