Description
Scarborough TEC (formerly Yorkshire Coast College) forms part of the Grimsby Institute Group of colleges. The Grimsby Institute have identified new investment is required to sustain the college's position in the competitive Further Education market place.
The newly acquired Filey Road, Scarborough site, recently purchased from the University of Hull, has already been the subject of Phase 1 Redevelopment to establish the first transfer of vocational training across the town.
This notice refers to the construction and delivery of Phase 2, which is to provide a new state of the art Engineering and Construction Workshop that will see the final transfer of the Lady Edith Drive existing facilities and vocational courses in Engineering and Construction and in the process enhance the quality and provision the college offers with the delivery of a modern teaching facility by the end of August 2018.
The design incorporates specialist vocational spaces for flexible learning, encompassing practical and theory within designed spaces. Given cost and time restrictions it is by its very nature simplistic in form and construction employing a single storey light industrial concept with piled foundations, portal steel frame clad in a combination of profiled sheeting and rendered blockwork. The heavily serviced workshops are formed in blockwork with the focus on well-equipped and fit for purpose space efficient workshops and associated facilities.
