Description
Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) have identified the potential for the county of Worcestershire to become a national centre of excellence for Cyber Security. Projected growth in the sector, combined with a concentration of skills, knowledge, resources and expertise, provides Worcestershire with the opportunity to be a market leader in the UK. Sustainable economic growth and business retention is the key priority for the County Council, the district councils and the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership. Set out in our corporate plan the Open for Business strategy focuses on 'rebalancing' Worcestershire's local economy through a series of measures aimed at encouraging and supporting private sector investment, business and employment growth.
The Government has recognised the need for action in this area of cyber security, with the production of 'The UK Cyber Security Strategy, protecting and promoting the UK in a digital world'. The strategy sets out the actions to reduce the risk and secure the benefits of a trusted digital environment for businesses and individuals.
The County Council is seeking to appoint a single service provider for the provision of Cyber Security Support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as part of the Growing Cyber Programme. This will address the local demand for awareness training by providing a range of services to improve the cyber security of SMEs.
The closing date for tender applications is 4pm on Friday 10th March.
