Description

In order to improvement its performance the Trust has put in place number of action plans and developing leadership capacity and capability is a key part of these plans.
The Education and Development department has a role in supporting the Trust's strategic objectives for workforce development through education and professional development in order to enable the delivery of excellent and cost-effective patient care. The department also plays a key role in the provision of high quality continuing professional development programmes for doctors and dentists in training within the Trust. St. George's therefore needs to ensure that mediation training is provided for current and future clinical and non-clinical leaders to ensure they are prepared and equipped to deal with the ever increasing complexities and pressures of today's NHS. The Trust currently runs a number of conflict resolution and communication skills courses aiming to further develop the skills of staff at all levels. In-house Workplace Mediator training will be a
new addition to the existing list of programmes to address areas when conflict is affecting relationships and potentially patient safety. Our desire is to create a culture where conflicts can be resolved without the need for formal HR procedures to be instigated.
