Description

Brief description of the Works that the Supplier is to provide.

A comprehensive package of repair (west wing) and replacement work (east wing) is proposed to the asphalt roof coverings. The proposed works will also encompass the comprehensive repair of the 20th century structures on the roof of the west wing as well as other identified roof defects in general. Please refer to brief description of the scope of works below:
• Asphalt roof covering (west wing)
o Repair and replacement of minor sections only
• Asphalt roof covering (east wing)
o Complete replacement
• Roof structures (west wing):
o Structural steel beams and columns: Partial and full replacement
o Non-structural steel and iron: Stabilise and protective coating
o Concrete and brick consolidation and/or replacement, repoint mortar joints
o Render replacement and consolidation
o Joinery repair and protective redecoration (including glass replacement)
• General roof level defect repairs (east and west wing)
o Chimney brick consolidation
o Handrail repairs
o Concrete/ brick shelters consolidation

Limitations and exclusions of the project (out of scope):
• Any works below roof level
• Internal works (below roof level)
• All works related to the Henry VIII period fortress
• Works related to commercial, curatorial or interpretation
