Description

The College of Policing has been running the Cyber Digital Career Pathways Project on behalf of the Home Office for the last 5 years. The project was set up in response to concerns that individuals working on cyber and digital investigations were leaving Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for private industry and were not recognised as being part of a specialist profession. The project was established to identify a means by which the movement (churn) of cyber digital investigation professionals (CDIPs) from public to private sector is reduced and/or more effectively managed. In addition, it was asked to increase professionalisation, interoperability and upskilling of public sector Cyber Digital Investigation Professionals.
Since the commencement of the CDCPP, the project team have designed and delivered a bespoke accreditation process that has been proven to support the reduction in churn and increase in professionalisation of those at the heart of cyber digital investigation.
From April 2021, the CoP, requires a suitably qualified/experienced concessionaire to operate as an arm of their existing structure, a recognition of achievement scheme under the title of the Institute of Cyber Digital Investigation Professionals (ICDIP) that will manage, operate and administrate the approved Cyber Digital Investigation Professionalisation processes and practices that have been previously developed and delivered by the project team.
There will be no payment by the College of Policing for this work and the funding for the successful bidder will be derived from the membership fee structure. The College will expect to recover administrative cost from the concessionaire for its role in managing the scheme and a small percentage of royalties, to be reinvested in the scheme, if membership reaches a certain level.
