Description

11. The SWPLP under the auspices of the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) is looking for a Conservation Architect, experienced in working with historic buildings, to carry out services in regards to coordinating the repair and restoration of traditional field barns on behalf of barn owners. The services required are in three parts:
- Part 1: Prepare and provide Schedule of Works with specifications using the condition survey, repair strategy, structural engineer's reports, draft bill of quantities, ecological reports and historic building recording reports provided by the SWP Cultural Heritage Officer; Using the agreed specifications and Schedule of Works, obtain competitive tenders from building contractors with demonstrable experience of working on building conservation projects and buildings of this type; Evaluate and assess the tenders and provide a written and justified recommendation to the SWP Cultural Heritage Officer and the barn owners as to which offers the best value.
- Part 2: Manage the building project(s) through to completion including assessing whether the project falls under CDM regulations and acting as Principal Designer where necessary.
- Part 3: Visit a number (tbc) of barns to assess intended minor repairs (cost of repairs likely to be between £2000 and £10,000) and provide building conservation advice and written specifications where appropriate for the intended repairs that barn owners can use to obtain tenders from contractors.
