Background to requirement

The BEEMS (British Energy Estuarine and Marine Studies) programme is funded by Cefas customer EDF Energy to provide authoritative scientific information on the marine and transitional waters in the vicinity of potential new build nuclear power stations.

Bathymetric surveys are required during the construction phase of the HPC build programme. Four bathymetric surveys are required, two in the vicinity of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) construction site and two at Portishead disposal site, Somerset, UK.

There is a licence requirement to undertake two detailed bathymetric surveys of the subsea infrastructure locations at Hinkley Point before marine works begin and again after construction is completed.

Construction also requires the seabed to be dredged, and material to be removed from site and disposed of in a licenced disposal site. Disposal has been proposed at site LU070 (Portishead) and two detailed bathymetric surveys of the disposal site are required before and after disposal takes place.

Aims and Objectives
Cefas is seeking a contractor to undertake four bathymetric surveys. Interested parties are invited to tender for the following lots:
- Lot 1: Two surveys at Hinkley Point construction site (https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk/go/487659700177164B15CC)
- Lot 2: Two surveys at Portishead disposal site (https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk/go/540785690177168CF7AD)

Suppliers can tender for one or both lots.
