Description

This project is the first phase of research, which will focus on preparing and implementing a public perception survey to gather contemporary views about tranquillity (eg what makes a place tranquil and what detracts from it). This will require the development of a Participatory Appraisal approach and techniques that inform an up to date understanding of factors that contribute to people's experience of tranquillity. The project will require experience and skills in engaging people (including some focus groups); also gathering and analysis of qualitative data. The project will run from January to May 2024 working closely with Natural England, CPRE and other stakeholders. It is envisaged that this project will inform a further phase of work to develop a national map of relative tranquillity.
