The new DD service will need to be in place by November 2022
DVLA administers vehicle excise duty (VED) on behalf of HM Treasury
Direct Debit's can be set up online using the Electronic Vehicle Licensing (EVL) service or at a Post Office.
Over 1 million mandates are created per month, this is split between new and renewed mandates
On average, Direct Debit payments total between £190m - £205m a month
The contract value will be approx. £5million per annum
It is envisaged that the service will include the following key components:
Adherence to BACS scheme rules
Transition of live DDs from current supplier
Integration to DVLA licensing and finance systems
Reliability and uptime
Room to scale and add more features
A service desk & escalation process for incidents
The Direct Debit supplier should be able to:
Successfully set up & automatically renew Direct Debit mandates
Reconcile payments on behalf of DVLA
Offer a portal for staff use & customer enquiries
Provide a user-friendly dashboard to monitor statistics and financial information and produce reporting where necessary.
The ability to block certain customers & manage the appropriate database
All routes to market are being considered and we are looking for Suppliers to tell us about their offerings and innovation.
