Description

The scope of works being procured comprises demolition of some of the buildings at the former Laceworks Site in Barnstaple. The original parts of the laceworks are subject to listed building status. These buildings will be subject to asbestos removal, soft strip and removal of defined partition walls and suspended ceilings. The structure of the listed buildings and immediately surroundings structures will be retained and protected. Former warehousing units will be subject to demolition and clearance.
The works include removal of Japanese Knotweed.
The buildings on site host birds and bats. The contractor will implement precautionary method of working as necessary in order to avoid impacts to the identified receptors.
Commencement of the work is subject to listed building consent and clearance of any associated pre-commencement conditions. Consent is expected in September/October. The Contractor shall be responsible for clearance of pre-commencement conditions. The programme and associated completion date is subject to agreement with the successful contractor.

All discussions, meetings and communications will be conducted in English.
The contract will be subject to English law. Tenders and all supporting documents must be priced in GBP and all payments under the contract will be made in GBP.
Contractors must be licensed by the HSE and also be members of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA). In addition to ARCA we also recognise ACAD (Asbestos Control & Abatement Division).

This procurement and award is subject to the transparency arrangements being adopted by the UK Government. These arrangements include the publication of tender documentation issued by Homes England and the contract between Homes England and supplier. Bidders should highlight any areas they consider commercially sensitive in order for Homes England to be able to honour our transparency obligations without undermining the bidders commercial interests.
