Description

The requirements set by NPL is for improving the data acquisition speed in a novel bench-top coordinate metrology system (CMS), which emulates GPS in operation. Currently the system relies on using a 10 MS/s 14-bit data acquisition (DAQ) system with serial connection to a PC. This setup is not adequate for the new implementation of the instrument, for which we need to acquire signals at a sampling rate up to ~160 MS/s, as well as transfer the acquired data to a PC/GPU device for data processing.

We here enquire for a set of DAQ cards that can be integrated in our CMS.

The set-up of the CMS consists of a central hub and 5 sensor heads distributed over a volume of 20 m x 20 m x 10 m. The central hub needs to acquire 4 signals, whereas the sensor heads need to acquire 2 signals each. A common clock and trigger signal are used to control the data acquisition on the central hub and sensor heads.
