Description

At the 2019 UN General Assembly the Prime Minister announced a £100m Biodiverse Landscapes Fund (BLF) which aims to reduce poverty, protect and restore biodiversity and lessen the impact of climate change in six environmentally critical landscapes across the globe. The Fund will run from 2022 to 2029.

The Authority is currently seeking to fund projects in the following landscapes:
· Andes Amazon, covering areas of Ecuador and Peru;
· The Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), covering areas of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe;
· Lower Mekong, covering areas of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam;
· Mesoamerica, covering areas of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras; and
· Western Congo Basin, covering areas of Cameroon, Gabon and Republic of Congo

Applications will open on different dates depending on the landscape.

· Lower Mekong will open the week commencing 11th July 2022 .
· Andes Amazon, KAZA, Mesoamerica, and Western Congo Basin will be launched in August. Launch dates for these landscapes will be confirmed in a subsequent notice.

More information will be available on the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund application portal on the day of launch: https://biodiverse-landscapes-fund.my.site.com/blf/s/

Who can apply for the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund

The Authority expects potential Delivery Partners to form consortia and submit grouped applications under a single Lead Delivery Partner for each Landscape. Applicants eligible to apply include, but are not limited to:

· Nongovernmental Organisations (NGOs)
· Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
· Private sector partners
· Multilateral organisations including UN Bodies
· Social development organisations
· Academic institutions

BLF funding cannot be awarded to governments or parastatal organisations. Governments and parastatal bodies may not therefore apply as either a lead delivery partner, or a consortium member.
