Description

The project involves the enhancement of the Coventry Fire House training facility, which focuses on providing realistic training environments for firefighters, especially through scenarios involving carbonaceous material burns. To summarise the required works:

Key Enhancements:
o Drying Room Installation: A new facility for drying equipment and gear used during training exercises.
o Dirty Lecture Room: Creation of a lecture/briefing room for use after training, where participants can enter without needing to clean up first.
o Alterations to Site Drainage: Adjustments to the existing external drainage system to connect to existing site drainage.
o External Staircase: Supply and fitting of a new external emergency escape staircase outside the building fitted to the existing gantry.
o Dry Riser Installation: A dry riser will be installed to allow water to be delivered in the building, essential for high-rise training and firefighting scenarios.
o High-Rise Training Scenario: A scenario for high-rise firefighting training will be established, including an alternative door entry into an existing burn room to simulate realistic entry challenges.
o Temperature Probes: Installation of temperature monitoring devices to track and record heat conditions during training exercises.
o Fabrication of Metal Doors and Partitions: Fabrication and fitting of robust metal doors and partitions to create confined spaces and more challenging entryways for firefighting drills.

Purpose of Enhancements:
These works aim to improve the overall functionality of the Coventry Fire House, making it a more effective and realistic training facility by simulating different firefighting conditions, especially high-rise building scenarios. The upgrades, such as the drying room and lecture room, will also support the operational needs of training participants.
