Description

The Adult Social Care and Health Department of East Sussex County Council is tendering for the provision of Day Opportunities for older people living in Lewes and the surrounding area.

The Council currently commissions a day service based in the Phoenix Centre. This is a purpose built day centre in the centre of Lewes owned by the Council. The service was originally provided directly by the Council, prior to being outsourced in 2015.

During 2017/18, an average of 16 clients per day used the service. 75% of these were funded by the Council and the remainder were private clients. The current provider offers up to 19 places per day, Monday to Friday, although there is scope in the building for this to be increased up to approx. 25 places per day.

The client group is older people aged 55 and over with eligible social care needs including all levels of dementia, mobility and personal care needs and older people who choose to attend and fund themselves.

Following a Social Care assessment, the Council will fund clients with eligible needs who choose to attend the service. Payments will be made based on actual attendance.
