LOCATION AND BRIDGE DETAILS:
? Elton Vale Bleach Works Footbridge No.1 is located off Holcombe Avenue/Elton Vale Road within a residential area of Bury and carries Public Footpath no.147 over a dip in ground levels and an open drainage channel.
? The Footbridge is a five span steel structure with an overall span of approximately 47m, an overall width 2.15m and is supported by steel piers and concrete bank seats.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKS:
The scheme comprises of:
? Encapsulating the superstructure including all associated scaffolding works (all temporary access and supports must be independent of the structure).
? Replacing existing parapets.
? Take up existing deck plates, abrasive blast clean, apply coatings and re-fix.
? Abrasive blast cleaning of existing superstructure and substructure to footbridge.
? Painting of the existing superstructure and substructure to footbridge.
? Painting of parapets.
? Surfacing (macadam and setts) and edgings to approaches.
? Provision of handrails to approaches
