Provision of Community Ophthalmology Services
Aims & Objectives
NHS Eastbourne Hailsham & Seaford (EHS) and NHS Hastings & Rother (HR) Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are reviewing their commissioning models for existing Community Ophthalmology Services. Currently these services are delivered through Single Provider Contracts with Primary Eye Care Providers and through various Locally Commissioned Services. In addition the CCGs are working collaboratively with our local acute trust, East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT) to develop additional Ophthalmology community pathways, to help release capacity in the already overwhelmed Hospital Eye care Services (HES) and to better utilise the existing workforce in the hospital and primary care setting. Having a number of varying arrangements with multiple providers may not be the most efficient delivery model for certain services, therefore we would be interested to discover the market options available to us, with the potential to successfully deliver these services and, to gather your views on the most effective structure to achieve optimum service delivery and value for money.
The CCGs wish to invite feedback to this Request for Information to inform the service provision options accessible to the CCGs in East Sussex for the provision of Community Optometry Services such as:
1. Cataract direct referral and cataract post-op*
2. Intra-Ocular Pressure refinement*
3. Minor Eye Conditions Services*
4. Child Vision Screening- in development
5. Stable AMD monitoring- in development
* denotes services that are already in place
Thank you - we appreciate your time and effort in completing this RFI.
