Description

Worcestershire County Council (WCC) has a current term contract for delivering maintenance and the supply and installation of traffic signals. A recent programme to investigate and find efficiencies across the highway network has identified route corridors and specific sites where improvements could be made to route journey times, efficiency of junctions for all modes, as well as maintaining free-flow and reducing congestion, through traffic signal control improvements. In addition WCC are delivering a range of other infrastructure schemes which include traffic signal installation. These additional demands for installation/improvements to traffic signals will exceed the financial limits of the current contract and therefore WCC now requires a contract for the supply and installation of traffic signals. The successful supplier will need to work collaboratively with the existing traffic signals term maintenance contractor.

Contract
The contract will be an NEC4 framework agreement with NEC4 engineering and construction short contracts for each project, including a set of rates. Task orders will be issued for individual projects. It is anticipated that the new contract will be for up to £10m, for a maximum of 5 years. Individual projects will be called-off when budget is approved. It should be noted that the programme of works is not currently fixed, and this may lead to variability in workload through this contract. There is no guaranteed minimum value of work that may be commissioned through the contract.

Timescales
It is anticipated that tender documents will be published in October 2018, and that the contract will run for at least 3 years, with an option to extend for a further two years, in one year increments.
