Description

Eastbourne Library is situated on Grove Road near the train station and centre of the town. It is the busiest library in the county, receiving almost 20,000 visits per month. The library building consists of a basement, ground floor, mezzanine and first floor with mixed usage throughout providing stock to browse and borrow, reading and study space, free public computers, office space and staff welfare facilities.

As usage is changing each library needs reshaping to ensure it meets the needs of customers now and into the future. We are seeing more customers that require study space (with or without electronic devices), consistent usage of the public computers and a need for more flexible use of the Library space in general (i.e. groups wishing to use the space).

In this project we will:
o Create a dedicated Learning and Information Centre on the first floor
o Create a dedicated children's area on the ground floor
o Upgrade the mezzanine
o Install display equipment and furniture throughout to provide new services
o Redesign of newspaper area, including furniture for study, relaxation, display and shelving

The works will take place in April and May 2019. While partial closures will be possible there will be no full closures to the Library. The opening hours can be found on our website.

The budget for the project is ?90,000, submissions will be scored competitively on price.
