Description
Durham Chemistry is a thriving centre for teaching and research in Chemistry. We and partners in Physics and Materials from a range of UK universities have significant research activity in functional inorganic materials. To underpin this work we require equipment to produce large single crystal samples of a number of materials.
The University wishes to purchase a Floating Zone Furnace capable of growing large single crystals of inorganic materials from the melt at temperatures up to 2200 centigrade. There is also a need to purchase ancillary equipment to help prepare samples for use in the furnace. This will be a one off purchase.
